Kangaroo Valley Bush Retreat

April 27, 2026

There are venues you play once and enjoy. Then there are venues you keep coming back to—places where everything just works. Kangaroo Valley Bush Retreat is firmly in the second category. With over 25 weddings played there, it's become one of the venues I know best and love most.

A ceremony location unlike anything else

The ceremony spot is genuinely one of the most spectacular I've ever played. It sits inside a natural rock cathedral—towering sandstone walls on either side, open sky above, the bush completely still around you. It creates this incredible acoustic environment where even an unamplified guitar feels enormous. Couples who get married there often tell me it was the single most memorable moment of their day, and I believe it. There's something ancient and unhurried about that space that makes every song feel like it was written for it.

Canapés with a view

After the ceremony, guests move through to the canapés area—and the view from up there is something else. Rolling hills, dense bushland, the valley stretching out below. It's the kind of outlook that makes people stop talking mid-sentence. Playing through cocktail hour with that backdrop, watching guests take it all in, is one of those gigs that reminds you why live music matters at a wedding. It sets a tone that a playlist simply can't.

A reception room that sounds incredible

The reception hall was recently soundproofed and given proper acoustic treatment—and the difference is significant. It now sounds genuinely great to play in. The low end sits cleanly, the vocals cut through without harshness, and the room doesn't fight you the way untreated spaces often do. For a musician, that matters a lot. When the room works with you, the whole performance feels better, and that energy translates directly to the dancefloor.

The team and the food

The staff at Kangaroo Valley Bush Retreat are consistently warm, professional, and easy to work with. As a vendor, having a venue team that communicates well and accommodates the small logistical things makes an enormous difference to how a day runs. They're the kind of crew who make you feel like a collaborator, not just a supplier—and that shows in how relaxed and well-run every event feels.

And the food. Genuinely, every time. Guests always rave about it, and from the few bites I've managed to steal over 25 weddings, I can confirm—it's excellent.

If you're planning a wedding in the Kangaroo Valley area and want someone who knows the venue inside out, get in touch. I've played every corner of that property and I'd love to do it again.
